Hamster’s face is swelling?!

The first-time owner of hamsters gets nervous when they see the stunning scene of his/her pet’s cheeks swell hugely.

However, it usually vanishes mysteriously when visiting the vets. In fact, those are the special organs of hamsters called cheek pouches. Hamsters carry food and building materials with them very often.

The cheek pouches of hamsters could store stuffs alone cheeks to shoulder blades.

On the contrary, when sensing dangers, for example, being caught/grabbed or being examined by the vet at veterinary hospital, they pour out all the stuffs in their cheek pouches as if vomiting, which hamsters don’t throw up.

They are not acting kind but running for their lives.
